New features
- A weekly home for patch notes
Player-facing updates now have their own searchable archive, linked from Tools and the Community footer, with category filters and mobile shortcuts for long roundups. Approved notes publish on Fridays at noon Eastern. Tools and the mobile menu show Patch Notes (New) until you read the latest issue; signed-in read status follows your account across devices, while guests keep browser-local tracking. - Try the War Room as a guest
Guest play is available through the supported entry flow. Account-only challenges and earned rewards still require an eligible signed-in account. - Share your collection in live chat
Collection links in chat can open a collector’s public binder. Private collections remain private. - An updated bug-report workspace
Eligible reporters can follow reports through clearer statuses and provide private match diagnostics to help staff investigate game issues. - War Room activity at a glance
The lobby now shows public War Room presence, making current activity easier to see without exposing private battle information.
War Room & rules fixes
- Learn to Play, one decision at a time
Learn to Play now has ten connected lessons and a learning hub with browser-local progress, Continue learning, and replay. Learn starting armies, recruitment, equipment, Actions, Reacts, and priority before practicing a complete turn and formation movement through the real rules engine. Forced steps advance automatically; genuine React and falling-forward decisions remain yours. The turn lesson shows readiness, drawing, initiative, and End of Turn, including what expires and what carries over. The movement lesson demonstrates spending, unsupported ranks, and falling-forward penalties. Card, caster, target, and destination selections stay unpaid until you commit; Back lets you change your mind. Separate Inspect controls enlarge cards, and spent or stunned cards visibly rotate. Practice offers tactical replay experiments, availability guidance, actual strike math, and a record of costs and consequences. A War Room guide explains the controls and clearly separates free beginner practice from normal matches. Remembered completion survives expired lesson positions, and safe retries recover interrupted requests without repeating actions. No account is required; tutorials award no rewards or account statistics. The old scripted full tutorial has been retired, and existing links redirect to independent practice. - Limited movement remains once per turn
Fixed movement overwriting the record that a card's Limited Order was already used. Squire Fendric's advance now preserves that record after moving. - Automatic end-turn resolution
Required end-turn cleanup and Storm checks now advance automatically. Player choices and legal React windows still stop for input; optional Limited Orders are not mandatory end-turn effects. - Clearer Storm results
Igniting the Storm shows each affected character’s check and reveals the result at the correct point in the sequence. - Correct spell-target ranges
Fixed hand-spell selection that incorrectly restricted eligible ranks, including Retreat from the Roil. - Simple Shield protects its wearer
Corrected the Destroy React so the shield protects its equipped character and pays its destruction cost when used. Passing does not destroy it. - Equipment timing and control
Corrected equip, transfer, replacement, destruction, and Death React continuations. This includes the equip-choice rejection reported when equipping an axe to Retsov. - More reliable nested reactions
Corrected after-hit, death, roll, and follow-up strike timing, including interrupted effects and card-control changes. Public explanations now clarify when a stunned character cannot perform its Death React. - Card-specific targeting and costs
Corrected interactions involving Nog, Oracle, Birdsong, Griffon restrictions, Ashveil grants, and Burnt Offering. These are targeted corrections, not a change to the underlying game rules. - Expanded Rules Compendium
Improved rules search, official-source navigation, and gameplay explanations. Updated keyword guidance includes Stealth, Marksmanship, Unique, Dual Wield, Sleight of Hand, Ward, and Scribe. Reference text and engine-support labels are distinguished.
AI & challenges
- A more deliberate Overlord
Improved buff selection, spell performers, Burnt Offering decisions, finishing sequences, and pressure on opposing leaders. The Overlord also evaluates its own exposure before committing. - Better Storm and formation planning
Improved screen-breaking, Storm positioning, formation timing, and end-turn sequencing, including how the Overlord uses support characters and expiring effects. - Smarter ordinary CPU play
Improved targeting, reactions, deployment, discards, equipment choices, and leader safety. ITA Warlord-specific priorities now inform combat, formation, support, and spell-resource decisions. - Dragon Lord and equipment decisions
Improved Dragon Lord action conservation, host protection, preferred-weapon handling, and ranged-threat awareness. Follow-up work also improves Gaunt and mount decisions. - Overlord challenges are open
Eligible signed-in players can challenge published Overlords, with three standard attempts per account per day and one unfinished standard challenge at a time. The daily counter resets at midnight UTC; resuming a match does not spend another attempt. - Testing without spending attempts
Eligible beta testers and staff can explicitly select reward-free Overlord testing. These matches do not use the daily quota or standard open-match slot and do not earn progression rewards. Active beta testers can also select the Overlord under Unlocked before earning him, then confirm Test as Overlord to command his army against a regular CPU rival. This temporary mode grants no rewards, tokens, records, or permanent command unlock; Random opponent remains available. - Dragon Lord challenge entry
A held victory token enables Redeem & challenge with confirmation and a token-burn animation. Eligible beta practice does not spend a token or earn Dragon Lord rewards. Qualifying token-backed victories can unlock play-only command of the defeated deck. Available Dragon Lord armies appear in the Unlocked decks picker alongside Overlords and are never selected automatically. Eligible beta testers can explicitly choose Test as Dragon Lord against a regular rival, without spending a token, earning rewards or records, or permanently unlocking the deck. The picker distinguishes earned command, owner previews, and temporary beta access. Resume cards and battle history retain the match's testing or token-backed status, with shortcuts back to regular army selection and the existing issue report.
Deck building & collections
- One save flow for collection counts
Collection entry uses a shared save action, with an owned-card view to see the cards you have entered. - Flexible collection views and trade sheets
Choose card-display sizes and density or a compact table view. Printable owned-card and trade checklists make collection lists easier to take with you. Trade sheets omit private notes and storage details. - Reviewed collection imports and backups
CSV imports now use upload, review, and confirmation before applying changes. Backup exports, history, and conflict-aware undo help protect saved collection data. - Refreshed collection tools
Updated collection overview, entry editing, checklists, duplicates, storage, statistics, goals, and history. Unsaved-change warnings help protect work when leaving the editor. - Safer deck editing and setup
Improved save ordering, stale-edit protection, starting-formation consistency, and reviewed Warlord changes. Class-choosing Warlords have clearer setup requirements in the editor and War Room. - Compare decks with your collection
Compare an ordinary deck against one of your collections and export or print its missing-card checklist. Inventory comparison is advisory and does not require owning physical cards to play virtually. - Organize, import, and recover decks
Ordinary deck tools now include favorites, personal tags, filtering, reviewed text/CSV imports, JSON roster/setup backups, and saved-edit recovery. Recovery starts with edits made after the feature was introduced. - Clearer deck analysis
Added level, class, faction, and set breakdowns, plus labeled draw-probability estimates that exclude starting characters. - Improved tournament printing
Refined tournament deck-list validation, page layout, exports, and private frozen tournament packets. Draft lists remain clearly distinguished from legal tournament exports.
Rewards & cosmetics
- Standard Overlord rewards restored
Eligible standard Overlord victories can earn rewards again. Testing and other non-qualifying modes remain excluded; existing deck and victory requirements still apply. - One held victory token
Qualifying Overlord victories award a token when you do not already hold one. It remains a trophy until redeemed; further wins while holding it do not produce duplicate token-award popups. - Dragon Lord victory progression
Qualifying token-backed victories now award the Dragon Lord badge and associated rewards. Unearned cosmetic rewards remain concealed behind mystery silhouettes. Practice and staff simulation do not grant rewards. - Beta rewards and unlock notices
Added beta-tenure reward handling, including qualifying lower-rank rewards for higher beta ranks. Multiple unlocks can be cycled through in the reward popup, and achievement popups can be hidden in account settings. - Beta and staff banners
Added animated role playmats for current and future qualifying beta testers and staff. - Hundred Banners qualification
Updated the limited Hundred Banners reward to recognize the first 100 qualifying players to complete ten matches. - Refreshed dice and mastery sleeves
Updated beta-tier dice, natural-twenty celebrations, and Warlord mastery sleeve effects. Included dice now use the shared true-3D presentation. - Matching starter cosmetics
Refreshed six starter sleeve colors and matching dice, with a complete Warlord W on the twenty face. Matching-pair shortcuts are available in My Armory and deck appearance settings. The Classic Warlord sleeve now uses portrait artwork. - Preview your full loadout
View your playmat, sleeve, and die together; inspect artwork and test-roll available dice. Deck appearance previews support reverting unsaved changes and returning to account defaults.
Interface & accessibility
- A clearer battlefield
Refreshed the War Room board, attachment trays, floating hand, alignment controls, and opponent-hand presentation. Phase notices and resolving feedback are positioned around the visible battle. - Reaction choices get more room
Reworked the reaction panel to keep choices and pass controls reachable on smaller screens. Caster and recipient previews use labeled blue outlines, and same-window refreshes preserve choice-list position. - Choose actions before committing
Hand Orders no longer auto-play simply because they are available. Caster and target selection have Back/Cancel controls before commitment, without an extra general confirmation popup. Pack Tactics and Epic Evocation use highlighted battlefield target groups: select or deselect Characters, then confirm the legal group. Back returns to caster selection without spending the Action, and rejected attempts keep the picker available for retry. Exact-outcome choices also let you return to the caster. Choosing an equipment host no longer opens an extra action wheel behind the equip confirmation. Required choices after commitment still resolve normally. - Consistent battlefield targeting
Expanded blue battlefield selection for Orders, Reacts, movement, and follow-up strikes, including Brightwing. Improved multi-target guidance and compact formation controls. While choosing a movement destination, the action wheel now gets out of the way and a persistent Back/Cancel control lets you revise an uncommitted choice. The chosen destination is still confirmed before moving. Falling forward and multi-target battlefield selections also keep the action wheel out of the way. Falling forward lets you return to choosing a Character without skipping the required repair, and multi-target choices let you select or deselect legal targets before confirming the group. - Faster multi-strike playback
Fast-strike playback shortens long sequences while still showing every result and preserving reaction decisions. The choice is remembered for that match in the same browser tab. - Separate random deck and opponent picks
Random controls select your army or your opponent independently, without reloading the lobby. Eligible system, community, and personal decks are included; Overlords and Dragon Lords are excluded. Fixed random opponents when commanding an Overlord. An optional Profile appearance setting remembers your last regular army across devices while it remains playable. Explicit deck links take priority; Lord and testing armies are never remembered, and disabling the setting clears the saved choice. Failed or timed-out memory saves now offer a safe retry without changing your selected army. Conflicting changes from another tab require an explicit choice instead of silently overwriting army memory. Empty searches and expired sessions have clearer recovery controls. - Artwork reveals and VS introductions
Random selections now reveal real deck artwork, and battles have a Warlord-versus-Warlord introduction. Saved settings can skip these animations. Corrected Dragon Lord intro startup and assigned both bosses their signature battle cosmetics. - Refreshed profile, Dashboard, and My Armory
Profiles can showcase up to five badges and public decks. Dashboard and profile settings have clearer navigation, while My Armory brings equipped cosmetics, rewards, held tokens, and private redemption history together. - More useful beta chat and preferences
Added mention picking, card and rule search previews, cancellable reports, and notification-category controls. Animation preferences and reduced-motion handling also apply across cosmetic previews.
Bug fixes & performance
- Fewer stuck CPU and resolving states
Fixed specific discard-cast and committed-Order continuation stalls, improved recovery after lost responses, and added clearer paused/waiting/resolving status labels. - Auto-pass and selection recovery
Improved turning auto-pass off, preserving target choices through busy clicks or failed requests, and keeping recovery controls accessible. - Quicker lobby browsing
Reduced unnecessary artwork and catalog loading, deferred offscreen community panels, and made battle-history filtering and pagination update in place. - More resilient live chat during updates
Chat better handles temporary maintenance, connection failures, and expired sessions. Same-tab drafts are retained, and retrying an unchanged uncertain send avoids duplicate messages. Notifications for new posts and edits recover automatically after interrupted delivery, without reposting messages or recreating cleared alerts, while respecting current access and notification preferences. Some updates can still require a maintenance window.
Account & security
- Privacy and account safeguards
Strengthened account access enforcement and the privacy boundaries around deck sharing, exports, collection tools, and match diagnostics. Support remains voluntary and does not purchase access to gameplay.
